The Psychology of Sleep – Blue

So. Apparently the colour you paint your room can have a huge effect on your sleep!

Painting your bedroom walls in shades of blue could lead to better sleep. A study in 2013 discovered a ‘significant decrease in both average body temperature and heart rate when exposed to blue light.’

So what does this mean for us?

Well…the colour blue has a similar effect on your body as a rise in melatonin (the happy hormone that helps control your sleep cycles) which means that this colour might just bring you closer to a perfect night’s sleep.

Blue is also the world’s favourite colour according to YouGov, and is a symbol of competence and quality!

We’d recommend using light blue with a warm hue as the accent colour for furniture and fabrics to give a true feeling of tranquillity. Happy snoozing!
